Fast & Furious Maserati Ghibli Review (Mattel)

Fast & Furious Maserati Ghibli
What It Is

This awesome Maserati Ghibli is one of the cars featured in the now-classic movie, Furious 7. It's part of collection of four key cars from that movie movie. Plus, Mattel has introduced a full line of die-cast replicas of cars from the franchise.

In the movie, this Maserati is driven by Deckard Shaw. When Dom finds him, he gives chase in his Plymouth Roadster. The chase ends in a high intensity game of chicken, and neither backs down, so both cars are destroyed, though both men walk away. (That's the way it works in these movies. Don't try this at home.)

There are three other cars in this collection, and as you might expect, they are all well made, freewheeling and ready for great play or cool display.

Kids can also use them with Mattel's Fast & Furious filmmaker app to create dramatic videos they can save and share. Collectors will appreciate the level of detail for the price.

Is It Fun?
For fans of the movies, it's easy, and comparatively inexpensive, to collect the key cars that are featured in them. These are all high end, one-of-a-kind cars, so it's unlikely anyone would own them in real life. Still, that's the nature of play, right? It's all about the fantasy of being immersed in these outrageous stories.
Who It’s For
The cars are graded for kids ages 5 and up, but they really are for fans of the movies...or fans of cool die-cast cars.
What To Be Aware Of
Because of the PG-13 rating of the movies, younger kids are not likely to see them, but they may very well be caught up in the cultural excitement around the films (ads, promotions, etc.) so don't be surprised if they want the cars.

The filmmaker app is free and allows kids to film cars in action and add special effects. We found it somewhat cumbersome to use. Kids who are into filming their cars will probably have other apps or programs that will work as well.
