EDITOR'S REVIEW
OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Command time and escape the egg-launching LEGO Ninjago Vermillion Invader, model number 70624. This 313-piece set is based on the latest season of the LEGO Ninjago TV series called “Hands of Time”. And in this LEGO set, the character Zane uses the Forward Time Blade when under attack.

The set comes with three minifigures of Zane, Commander Raggmunk, and Slackjaw. You also get Zane's translucent green Forward Time Blade, Zane's katana, the Commander's Vermillion axe and sword, and a sword for Slackjaw.

But what you get to build is the Vermillion Invader vehicle, which rolls around on rubber track wheels. It has two minifigure cockpits, two eggs with translucent red snake slime elements, and the ability to launch those eggs thanks to a spring-loaded dual egg catapult. And the vehicle is covered in snakes.

There's also a buildable barrier with stone-, wood-, and swamp reed-effect elements. But if one of the eggs hits the barrier, it will knock the barrier over and any minifigure hiding behind it.

Is It Fun?
This will be a fun way for LEGO Ninjago fans to expand the storyline, add to their collections, and play out what they see on the TV show. The Vermillion Invader has a lot of nice detail and action features that help to bring the “Hands of Time” storyline to life and make those good-versus-evil battles that much more fun. Whether recreating scenes from the TV show or making up their own Spinjitzu stories, this construction set will inspire a lot of open-ended, narrative-based play.
Who It’s For
The LEGO Ninjago Vermillion Invader is for ages 8–14, and will mostly appeal to LEGO builders who are fans of the Ninjago storyline and TV show.
