The Disney Castle Review (LEGO)

The Disney Castle
What It Is

Bring the magic of Disney World from Florida to your home with the LEGO The Disney Castle construction set, model number 71040. This comes with 4,080 pieces to construct a 29-inch tall replica of Cinderella's castle from Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom park. On one side of the castle, you have the highly detailed façade, complete with a stone bridge leading up to the arched entranceway with opening doors, a clock, ornate balconies, and spired towers. But turn it around to find a four-story main building and a five-story golden-spired main tower that contain Disney movie-inspired rooms.

On the first floor, along with a mosaic tiled floor, suits of armor, shield-decorated walls, and a grandfather clock, you'll find a magic carpet and golden lamp from Aladdin.

On the second floor, you'll find a candelabra and rose encased in a glass jar just like from the movie Beauty and the Beast.

The third floor has a chest with a book of spells, a mop, and a bucket based on the movie Fantasia. You can also access the second floor of the tower from this room.

The fourth floor has a detailed bed with decorative golden headboard elements. To our knowledge, this is not from any specific movie, but you can't have a castle without a bedroom, right?

In the tower, the first floor has a kitchen with a large red brick-patterned stove, a workbench, a broom, and a pumpkin, plus pots, pans, and assorted food elements. Parts of this kitchen might look reminiscent from the movie The Little Mermaid. The pumpkin is from Cinderella.

The second floor of the tower is where you'll find Sleeping Beauty's spinning wheel, along with access to the third floor of the main building.

In the tower's third floor room, there is a chest with a brush, a pair of scissors, and a lock of black hair, all based on the movie Tangled. The room's balcony has two stud shooters for a pretend firework display.

Snow White's Evil Queen will feel at home in the tower's fourth floor, with its golden mirror and apple in a vase.

And on the fifth floor of the tower, you'll find a window bench and an arched window.

There is also a removable roof portion that reveals Cinderella's glass slipper and a book of fairytales with a printed cover. And on the castle's front balcony, there is space for Merida's target and bow and arrow from Brave. Plus, the set comes with two frogs and a golden crown element from The Princess and the Frog.

You also get five minifigures of Mickey Mouse in a tuxedo, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Tinker Bell.

Is It Fun?
This LEGO set makes a wonderful display piece for any Disney fan who also likes building with LEGO. It really captures the look of the original castle and brings in a lot of fun elements from some favorite Disney movies. There are many elements that kids will want to play with, and maybe Mom or Dad or an older sibling will let them play with this set once its built, but this is really going to be more of a set for fans and collectors to keep out on display.
Who It’s For
The Disney Castle construction set is for more advanced builders and Disney fans ages 16 and up. This is due to its very large piece count.
What To Be Aware Of

It took our Master Builder seven hours to put together this castle construction set, but the instructions were easy to follow. You need a lot of time because there are a lot of pieces.

Along with the building directions, the instruction booklet also provides information on the real Cinderella castle at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.
