Star Wars Hot Wheels Death Star Revolution Race Review (Mattel)

Star Wars Hot Wheels Death Star Revolution Race
What It Is

Can you take down the Death Star? Test your skills with the Star Wars Hot Wheels Death Star Revolution Race track set. Build the Death Star and then race the included X-Wing Fighter and TIE Fighter Carships to make some intergalactic car crashes and try to destroy the Death Star. This track set has a power booster that launches both cars into speedy action around the looped track. Watch the cars go around and around and you might get to see them crash into each other in the crash zone. But if you want to pretend like Luke Skywalker is piloting the X-Wing Fighter, use the set's joystick to pop out the jump ramp. If you can get the angle on the jump ramp just right, the car might launch into the Death Star's exhaust port and "explode" the Death Star. But don't worry. Just reassemble the Death Star to play all over again.

When you're done playing, there's space for storing up to six Hot Wheels vehicles on the track set.

And you can connect this track set to other Hot Wheels sets you might already own.

Is It Fun?

With its buildable and explodable Death Star and cool glittery blue track that looks like you're zooming through outer space, this is a very cool track set that Hot Wheels and Star Wars fans are going to like playing with. It's a little challenging to get a car to hit the exhaust port, but that's how it was in the movie, too, so don't expect to hit the exhaust port every time you try. And that's all part of the fun as kids pretend they're the pilot of the X-Wing, using the joystick and The Force to figure out just the right angle for the ramp.

Who It’s For

The Star Wars Hot Wheels Death Star Revolution Race track set is for ages 4 and up. This is going to be a lot of fun for Hot Wheels fans who are also Star Wars fans. They'll like seeing familiar Star Wars starships in car form, racing and crashing the cars through the looping track set, and trying to defeat the Death Star just like in the movies. We even think some older Star Wars fans will have playing with this set.

What To Be Aware Of

You'll need four D batteries to power the track set, and the batteries are not included.

Adult assembly is required, and it took us 10 minutes to do. The instructions were easy to follow, however, there was one piece that we thought was hard to snap in place. And it's kind of an important piece, too, so if it's not in just right, you're going to have a hard time activating the jump ramp. When you get to that piece, you'll need a lot of force to snap it in place.

This track set can be connected to other Hot Wheels sets, sold separately. Additional Star Wars Hot Wheels Carships are also available and sold separately.
