OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Part of the LEGO Architecture series, the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. is a 1,032-piece construction set that measures 17-inches long by six-inches wide. Originally designed by William Thornton in 1793, the Capitol Building has gone through several changes over the years. The set's design is based on the building's current look from the white columned façade to its famous steps and lawns. The kits removable dome lifts to reveal a fascinatingly detailed interior, which depicts the famous National Statuary Hall complete with columns, statues, and a tiled floor. The U.S. Capitol building model also has a nameplate to put a neat finishing touch on your completed display piece.

Is It Fun?

This building kit, which represents one of our nation's most important structures, makes for a wonderful display piece in your home or office. While a LEGO product, it's more of a collectible than a toy. Either way, it's still fun to put together and will give you a sense of accomplishment once completed. History buffs and patriots will appreciate the detail LEGO has put into the Capitol Building from the columns to the interior of the National Statutory Hall, an unexpected feature that shows how much craftsmanship went into it.

Who It’s For
This set was designed for older LEGO builders (ages 12 and up) and people who enjoy building models of things or characters from their favorite shows. The LEGO Architecture U.S. Capitol Building model is a great piece for history buffs, collectors of scaled down versions, and, of course, architects. Parents who want to show their kids a creative history lesson will want to grab this and should definitely assist their children with the building.
What To Be Aware Of
The highly detailed U.S. Capitol Building set is 1,032 pieces and will take a while to put together, so clear your schedule when assembly time arrives. Instructions for the kit, which feature a removable dome to reveal the National Statutory Hall, are included. The kit also matches the scale of the LEGO Architecture Lincoln Memorial set (sold separately), for those looking to build a LEGO Washington Mall. There's also many other LEGO Architecture building models available to collect and complete. Each set is sold separately. These include Buckingham Palace, Berlin, and New York City, and many more global icons and destinations.
