If you're a fan of Furby, get ready to connect with the toy in a new way. Furby Connect is the latest iteration of Furby that uses today's technology to interact with kids in more ways. When you connect Furby Connect to the Furby Connect World app via Bluetooth, the toy will respond to what kids are doing in the app and automatically update itself with new surprises. In the app, Furby owners can also interact with and care for Furby by hatching and nurturing Furblings, feeding Furby with the food cannon, and other digital-physical interactions.
But you don't have to use the app to play with Furby Connect. Outside of the app, Furby will respond to motion and sound thanks to multiple sensors throughout its body. So you can pet, tickle, hold, shake, or tilt your Furby to hear appropriate responses. Feed your Furby with your finger, play music to your Furby, and even talk to your Furby using some of the words you've learned in the Furbish dictionary. It can also remember other Furby Connect friends it meets and even greet them by name.
And perhaps the most important feature of Furby Connect, at least to parents, is that you can turn Furby Connect off. Just press and hold the toy's antenna for five seconds or put the included Sleep Mask on your Furby.
But when the Furby is awake, it will go through more than 1,000 phrases, expressing its moods through responses, sounds, motion, body language, and colorful LCD-screen eyes that display more than 150 animations.
Furby Connect is available now in pink and teal, with blue, coral, and purple versions available later. Each is sold separately.
Furby requires four AA batteries, which are not included.
The Furby Connect World app is a free download on iOS and Android devices.
