Quiddler Mini Round Review (SET Enterprises)

Quiddler Mini Round
What It Is

Spell words on the go with Quiddler Mini Round, the travel version of the word-making game Quiddler. This version is designed to be a little faster to play and easier to take on the go. It comes with 59 cards with letters from A to Z and special double-letter cards: QU, IN, ER, TH, and CL. Each card has a point value.

The game is played in four rounds, and in the first round, everybody gets three cards. In the second round you get four cards, in the third round you get five cards, and in the last round you get six cards. Any remaining cards become the draw pile, and the top card gets turned over to start the discard pile.

Take turns drawing the top card from the draw pile or discard pile, and then discarding a card. The goal is to use all the cards in your hand to spell one or more words. If you can do this with one card left over to discard, you can “go out”. All the other players then get one last turn. Each player then scores his hand, counting up the point values listed on each card used to make words and subtracting the point values for unused cards. The player who makes the most words gets a 10-point bonus, and so does the player with the longest word. Then you start a new round. After four rounds, the player with the most points wins.

Is It Fun?

If you like word games and the original Quiddler game, then you'll like this faster-playing version. Like the original, it's easy to learn but challenging to come up with words. This would be a fun game to play at home or on the go.

Who It’s For
Quiddler Mini Round is for two to four players ages 8 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
It's a little difficult to shuffle the circular cards.
