EDITOR'S REVIEW
OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

The Cra-Z-Knitz Ultimate Designer Knitting Station is part of Cra-Z-Art's Shimmer 'n Sparkle craft line. This two-loom knitting kit comes with a handy station to do your looming in and keep your supplies organized as you knit. Along the side of the workstation there is a measuring tool to measure out your yarn. The kit comes with two looms: a circle loom to make a hat, and a long loom to make a scarf.

The best way to describe the long loom for first-time knitters is it works a lot like the popular bracelet making looms, like Cra-Z-Art's Cra-Z-Loom. For either project, you'll still need to do a basic slip knot, but casting on the loom is a lot easier than working with needles. Simply loop the yarn around each peg in two layers, then using the crochet hook, pull the bottom row up and over the top row for each peg. Eventually you'll see your project take shape. It will take roughly three hours to complete each project depending on your speed and how big or long you want your hat or scarf to be. The instructions guide also includes additional guidance to further personalize your creations such as by switching yarn colors or adding fringe.

Is It Fun?

This kit does a great job of explaining the steps for every situation and the materials it comes with are pretty high quality. Plus, as any knitter knows keeping your yarns untangled and organized as you work is really important--this work station does a great job of remedying this issue.

Who It’s For

The Cra-Z-Art Shimmer N Sparkle Ultimate Designer Knitting Station is for ages 6 and up. It will appeal to kids that like activity projects, DIY fashion, and knitting without the hassle.

What To Be Aware Of
While the station does allow you to lock in your looms to work on as you knit, we actually found the station can get in the way a bit so you may prefer, as we did, to simply use the yarn holders and hold the looms freehand.
