Yoshi's Woolly World Review (Nintendo)

Yoshi's Woolly World
What It Is

Yoshi's Woolly World and the Green Yarn Yoshi amiibo from Nintendo are a video game and collectible figure. The game's story involves an island of Yoshis that have been turned into yarn bundles and scattered through the game levels. Everything in the levels is made of yarn, including enemies, obstacles, and warp pipes. Players will explore the levels in this Platformer game as they travel from the start point to the end goal. If the player finds all the Yoshi yarn bundles in the level, they will unlock a patterned Yoshi, which becomes a playable character.

The Yarn Yoshi amiibo is made of real yarn. It's cute, soft, and squeezable, but still a fully functioning amiibo figure that unlocks digital content in the game.

Is It Fun?

Woolly World is a classic Nintendo platformer with a cute twist thanks to the yarn-appearance. It's also funny. Yoshi can gobble up enemies, then crouch to turn them into balls of yarn that can be thrown. Finding the hidden Yarn bundles to unlock and collect the patterned Yoshis is almost as much fun as playing through the levels.

Who It’s For

The game is rated E for Everyone, and we think kid, teen, and adult Nintendo fans will like it.

The Green Yarn Yoshi amiibo figure is for Nintendo fans ages 6 and up. Like other amiibo figures, you don't need the game to collect and display the figures. You only need the game if you want to unlock the figure's digital content. In Yoshi's Woolly World, that content includes being able to have two Yoshis on screen together but controlled by a single player. Players can also assign their favorite unlocked patterned Yoshi to the figure so they can play it as the double Yoshi.

What To Be Aware Of

Yoshi's Woolly World is a Wii U exclusive that is available on its own, or in the figure bundle.

Additional Yarn Yoshis including a Pink and Light Blue Yoshi are also available separately.
