Pie Face is a skill-and-action game that combines classic pie-throwing comedy with a game of chance. Set up is straight-forward and easy to do. Just follow the instructions. There is no limit to the number of players that can play. The game comes with a sponge that's can serve as the "pie" for the game. Wet it and place it on the pie hand. However, we think it's a lot more fun to use whipped cream or shaving cream. To start, press down the pie-throwing arm and load it up with whipped/shaving cream.
Each player, on his or her turn, spins the spinner to see how many times he/she must turn the handles on the sides. Then, players put their face in the mask and turn. If they're lucky, they'll get the right number of clicks and escape with a clean face, and one point for each turn. If not, they get pied in the face and earn zero points for that round. The mechanism sets a random number of turns so players never know how many turns it will take from one round to the next. For example, the first time I attempted this, I got pied on the first turn.
The gameplay here is simple enough for anyone at almost any age to pick up and play. Kids will love to see mom and dad taking a pie to the face, and the suspense adds to the fun for everyone. We also like that the surprise factor means everyone is at an equal advantage throughout the game.
If you do chose to load up the pie hand with cream, don't use too much or it won't throw well. Experiment to find just the right amount.
