EDITOR'S REVIEW
OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

The Force is really energy, and as kids play with Uncle Milton's Jedi Force Levitator, they learn about how energy can attract and repel. The battery-operated deflector creates a positive charge and the positive charge of the mylar deflector pushes away, creating a Force push. The energy in your body creates a negative charge that draws the object towards you, which is a Force pull. This includes a poster that puts all the science into Star Wars terms and instructions and other experiment ideas are on the back.

Is It Fun?
It's really impressive to see this in operation. What's more because it's an explainable scientific phenomenon, kids can understand and experience energy in a play context within a favorite roleplaying activity--training to become a Jedi. It's easy to use, and virtually any kid will be successful with it from the first try.
Who It’s For
This is for kids ages 8 and up. It will appeal to kids who love roleplay around Star Wars characters, but any kid who is curious about the physical world and has even a passing interest in science and discovery is going to be fascinated by this.
What To Be Aware Of
The mylar shapes do tend to get tangled up as you play. To untangle, gently hold the ends in your hands and allow the mylar to fall back into place naturally. The mylar is attracted to the energy in your body, so you'll have best results if you play with your arm fully extended like a Jedi who understands some basic scientific properties.

While this does have some STEM application, the learning and discovery are in the context of the play, which is what makes this fun.
