In the app Cookie Monster's Challenge, kids play through sets of fun and challenging mini games to build a cookie contraption and deliver cookies to Cookie Monster. Each of the app's nine levels includes 10 mini games designed to challenge and engage children by practicing self-control, focus, memory, following directions and problem-solving skills. Kids might be asked to touch the pig, quack like a duck, finish the picture and match things that go together. If kids don't complete the mini game before time runs out or they pick an incorrect answer, they start that round of mini games over. As kids progress through each level the mini games will get more challenging. When kids beat a level they earn pieces of a giant cookie-making machine which they use to decorate and deliver the cookies they've earned to Cookie Monster. The app allows parents to create up to three separate profiles so that each child can progress through the game at his or her own pace. Cookie Monster's Challenge is compatible with iPad and Android tablets.
The games in this app are silly and fun and kids will love interacting with Cookie Monster as they play. Parents will like the educational components behind each game but kids won't even know they're learning. They'll just have a good time feeding Cookie Monster cookies.
Cookie Monster's Challenge is for ages 3-5.
The parents section, which can only be accessed by dragging the "parents" icon to a certain part of the screen, offers information on how the app helps kids practice specific skills, suggests family activities for helping exercise and build a child's brain, and allows parents to manage profiles.
The app's homepage has a "more apps" icon for downloading more PBS Kids and Sesame Street apps and that section can only be accessed by dragging the icon to a certain part of the screen. Doing so requires reading skills so we think that most preschoolers will not be able to figure it out.
