Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal Review (Sega)

Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal
What It Is

Sonic the Hedgehog gets a reboot with Sonic Boom. Sonic Boom is a new Sonic experience that brings fans a never-before-seen world, based on action-adventure combat, new characters, and environments. SEGA will release two new games in the Boom series with Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal for the Nintendo 3DS and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for the Wii U.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric will act as a prequel to the stories revealed in a new TV series, that finds Sonic and friends-Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and the newest member of the team, Sticks-facing off against their most powerful enemy yet: Lyric, a giant snake-like creature from an ancient race.

Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal is a stand-alone adventure that shares key characters and elements of the Sonic Boom universe with exclusive environments and characters. In the handheld game, Sticks will play an integral role in the story after her best friend Amy gets kidnapped by Lyric.

The Wii U game will focus on action-adventure and exploration, and the 3DS game will place a bigger emphasis on platforming and puzzles. Collectibles found in the 3DS game will unlock special content on Wii U via Wi-Fi connectivity.

Both games will be available exclusively for their respective Nintendo platforms, on November 11, 2014.
