EDITOR'S REVIEW
OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

The Mutts Diaries brings together Mooch and Earl, the cat-and-dog duo from Patrick McDonnell's cartoon strip Mutts, in a comic collection tailored for middle-grade readers. The 224-page book is divided into eight sections each featuring comics based on one of the characters: Mooch, Earl, Sour Puss, Chickpea, Crabby, Guard Dog, Bip and Bop, and Shtinky. Most of the comics are black-and-white with a few full-color comics scattered throughout.

Is It Fun?

This book is ideal for fans of the Mutts comic strip, but it will also appeal to kids who like animals and kids who like comics. The humor is age-appropriate with wonderful themes of friendship and loyalty. The comic strip format of the book is also a nice way to engage reluctant readers.

Who It’s For

The Mutts Diaries is for ages 8-12.

What To Be Aware Of

Additional Mutts book collections are sold separately.
