Happy's Piper Review (Cepia, LLC)

Happy's Piper
What It Is

The Happy's line of interactive, motorized pets for kids is expanding with four new Happy's characters: Lady the hot pink kitty, Thunder the blue dog, Piper the snow white pup, and Maya the pink poodle. Press the embroidered spot on the pet's back to watch it come to life. It starts out in Explore mode, exploring its surroundings. Each pet comes with one Happy Treat, which serves as a controller for the pet with a light that the pets react to. The pet's light sensors are in its eyes, so when the Happy Treat is correctly aimed at a pet, the pet will follow you within a range of six to seven feet. When it gets close enough to the treat, the pet will perform its favorite trick. For example, Lady pounces and Thunder wiggles from side to side. When you're done playing, just press the spot on the pet's back again to send it into sleep mode and power down.

Is It Fun?

The Happy's offer kids the opportunity to roleplay as pet owners without all the mess of a real animal. There's a definite learning curve when playing with your Happy's, though. As with real-life pet training, it takes time to get it right. Even if, like us, you have difficulty getting the Happy Treat controller to work, the Happy's are full of energy and still a lot of fun to play with. Fans will love that there are new pets to choose from.
