Matchbox Wrecky the Wrecking Buddy Review (Mattel)

Matchbox Wrecky the Wrecking Buddy
What It Is

Matchbox Wrecky the Wrecking Buddy is a toy construction truck that drives, spins 360 degrees, talks, lights up, dances, and even passes gas. The foot-long yellow truck has a swinging wrecking ball, jumbo wheels, and an authentic construction truck design. It features five play modes: carrying cargo, dumping cargo, breaking barriers, clearing the area, and a celebration dance. The on/off switch is located underneath the truck. Once on, kids move the smokestacks and push the truck bed down to activate Wrecky in different ways. For example, push his smoke stacks forward to watch him drive ahead. Or pull his smoke stacks backward two times to watch Wrecky spin 360 degrees with his wrecking ball flying. To dump cargo, just pull the truck bed up and release. Two pieces of cargo are included, but kids can use other small objects as cargo, as well. Once kids figure out how to activate the different actions, they can set up different challenges for Wrecky, such as knocking down plastic cups, carrying around action figures, or anything else they can imagine.

Is It Fun?

The humor of this toy, including passing gas, is perfectly suited to preschoolers. It's got so many ways to play, and it feels like Wrecky does a lot more because of the constant movement, lights, and sounds when playing with it.

Who It’s For

Matchbox Wrecky the Wrecking Buddy is for ages 3 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Wrecky includes four C Batteries.

The toy seems very durable but like most toy vehicles, Wrecky the Wrecking Buddy works best on smooth surfaces.

One thing parents should know is that it's quite loud, and there's no volume control.
