What It Is
It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown is a 48-page interactive book with sound from Hallmark. Based on the 1974 animated Peanuts TV special, It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown tells the story of how the Peanuts gang prepares for Easter. As usual Linus is certain that everyone is wasting their time with preparations because, forget the Easter bunny, the Easter Beagle will provide eggs for every boy and girl on Easter Sunday. But, like the boy who cried Great Pumpkin, no one quite believes Linus. Other Easter-related sub plots also develop throughout the story, such as Peppermint Patty trying to teach Marcie how to color Easter eggs, Sally shopping for new Easter shoes, Snoopy trying to help Woodstock recover his home from the spring showers, and Lucy debating with everyone that Easter is really just another "gift-getting" holiday. We think the most engaging qualities of the book are, of course, the sounds. Pages throughout the book feature icons that correspond to one of the sound buttons along the side of the book. The buttons feature quotes from the characters as well as the iconic music of the Peanuts.
Is It Fun?
Whenever there is a holiday, you can count on Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang to provide an equally pleasing holiday tale. This is a short, sweet, and engaging story to celebrate Easter that also introduces kids to a lot of Easter traditions. The language in this book is easy enough for young readers to sound out on their own or read along with an adult. Of course, the book's most engaging and interactive features are the sounds.
