What It Is

The Hexbug Strandbeast XL is a large radio-controlled, eight-legged robotic creature that is a bigger and more sophisticated version of the Strandbeast robot. Aside from its giant size, what distinguishes this version from the smaller one is the enhanced controller. Push both buttons up to move forward, down to move back, and one up and one down to control left or right movement. What makes the controlling even more fun, however, is that the controls are on sliders, so you can play with different ways to make sharp or soft turns, and controlling its signature gliding movement.

Is It Fun?

This basically simple movement and the impressive size are completely engaging for kids. Like all the Innovation First robots, this deceptively simple toy offers tons of satisfying and engaging play.

Who It’s For

The Hexbug Strandbeast XL is for ages 8 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

The Strandbeast XL takes three AAA batteries for the robot and one 9V battery for the remote control.
