What It Is
Odd Jobs is a new silly card game from Patch Products that's based on the idea that sometimes you might want to make a few extra bucks doing some odd jobs or hire someone else to do a job for you. To play, cards are divided into three piles-business cards, human resource cards, and job cards-and green tokens are placed at the center of your playing area. Each token is worth $10 and tokens equal payment if you are selected for a job. Each player starts with a hand of five business cards and one player starts the game by rolling the die. Roll a six and pick up a human resource card, these cards can either hurt you or help you; Some give more money to your opponents, some take money from your opponent, and some let you swap your hand for new business cards. If you roll anything other than a six draw a job card and use the number you rolled to insert the corresponding numbered phrase into the sentence on the card. Then it's time for the other players to apply for the job. Select a business card from your hand that you think is best suited for the job; you can simply read your business card to apply for the job or pitch the "job recruiter" as to why you are the most qualified candidate for the job.
Whoever is chosen is then awarded a specific number of tokens based on what the recruiter rolled. At the end of the round, or however many rounds you chose to play, the player with the most tokens wins the game.
The game comes with 200 Business Cards, 180 Jobs on 90 Cards, 10 Human Resources Cards, 60 $10 Tokens, Die, and Rules.
Is It Fun?
This is a really fast and fun card game to learn. But what makes this game a lot of fun is the crazy jobs you might be hiring for as well as the business cards of the people applying for those jobs.
Who It’s For
The game is suggested for ages 14 and up. Some of the game's vocabulary and scenarios can be too adult for younger kids. However, we think you can easily hand pick some cards to play with in advance to get slightly younger kids involved.
What To Be Aware Of
This game is for three or more players. The more players you play with, the more rounds we suggest playing per game.
