- Yogi Finders from Upside Down Games
- We recommend this product for ages 6 and up
What It Is
Yogi Finders is a board game that exercises the body while also teaching kids about yoga. The object of the game is to match yoga poses on cards with the poses on the board. Each player picks three of the same colored tokens and is given three cards face down. When the leader says, "Go!", all players flip their cards over and try to find the matching pose on the game board. When you find a match, put your token down on the matching pose. The first player to find all three matches wins the round. Players keep all the cards for which they found a match, and the rest go back into the main card pile. Then the players all perform the poses on their cards.
Another way to play is to have the leader pick one card, flip it over, and say, "Go!" Then, all players must find that one pose on the board. The one who finds it first has to then perform the pose and hold it for 10 seconds. He gets to keep the card. The first player with 12 cards wins.
The game comes with four double-sided game boards, 86 yoga pose cards, and 12 game tokens. The game is for two to four players.
Is It Fun?
This is a fun and active game that also teaches kids a little something about yoga. The 12 poses make a salutation, which can be done by the kids to create their own salutation. We only wish that the names of the poses were on the cards because that would be such an added educational value. Overall, though, it's a fun game and gets kids moving their bodies.
Who It’s For
Yogi Finders is for ages 6 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
This game does require physical activity. Make sure you're wearing comfortable clothing and that you take off your shoes and do some warming up before play. It is advised that you use caution during play and stop immediately if you feel discomfort, pain, or dizziness.
We think it is also helpful to have an adult player or other player who knows a bit about yoga who can make sure that the novice players are performing the poses correctly so that nobody gets hurt.
