What It Is

In Room on the Broom, a witch and her cat happily fly through the sky on a broomstick until the witch drops her hat. A helpful dog retrieves it for her and asks for a ride on the broomstick. As the three passengers continue flying, the witch loses her bow, which a bird retrieves for her. Like the dog, the bird wants a broomstick ride. Now with four passengers, the broom ride continues until the witch loses her magic wand. This time, it's a frog who retrieves the wand, and yes, he also wants to ride on the broomstick. But is there room on the broom for all of them? And when disaster strikes, will they be able to save the witch from a hungry dragon? The story is told through author Julia Donaldson's rhyming prose with accompanying images by illustrator Axel Scheffler.

Is It Fun?

This is a really cute book that is perfect for the Halloween season. The rhymes are fun, the illustrations are enchanting, and we like that this book shows a witch who is gracious and kind instead of scary and mean. The book also has a nice lesson about pulling together to help out your friends.
