Kids can communicate from great distances with the Motorola Talkabout 2-Way Radios. These are pretty amazing walkie-talkies. If you're out in the open outdoors where there are no mountains and it's just wide open space, these will work from up to a 16-mile range. If you're in the suburbs, the range shrinks to only a couple miles. If you're in a heavily populated city with a lot of large buildings, these will still work up to a half a mile.
Once your walkie-talkie is on, make sure the person with the other walkie-talkie is on the same channel as you are. Then, adjust the volume and press and hold down on the yellow side button to talk. Release the button to hear the other person speak back to you.
These walkie-talkies work really well, and we're sure that kids will have a lot of fun going on all sorts of imaginative adventures with them. The sound quality coming through the walkie-talkies is great, and we like that you can adjust the volume.
These are not age-graded because they are more of an electronics item than a toy. We wouldn't give these to a 4-year-old, but we think that kids 6 and up will be able to use them.
These would also be great for families on vacations at theme parks, etc.
These are a great value for the money.
Each walkie-talkie requires three AAA batteries, which are not included.
