What It Is
Laughter is what it's all about in The Game of Things. In each round, players write a response to a topic. One player will be the Reader for the round and reads aloud the topic, which could be "Things you wish you could predict" or "Things your parents forgot to tell you". Your response can be as outrageous or as straight-forward as you'd like. When everyone has given their responses to the Reader, the Reader reads them aloud. Then take turns trying to eliminate each other by guessing which player wrote which response.
If you guess right, the writer of the response is out of the round, and you get to guess again. You also score one point. If you're wrong, you're still in the round, but it's the next player's turn to guess. You remain in the round until someone matches you up to your response. The round ends when only one player has not been matched to his or her response. That player earns two points.
The game ends after every player has been the Reader or after you've played a set number of rounds. The player with the most points wins.
The Game of Things comes packaged in a wooden box with a sliding lid. It includes 300 Topic Cards, a Response Pad, a Score Pad, eight pencils, and instructions. The game is for four or more players.
Is It Fun?
This is a fun game that results in a lot of hilarity. Of course, the tone of the game depends on the people with whom you're playing. The game is definitely more fun the more players you have. It's also fun to try and guess who wrote what. You might be surprised at the things your fellow players come up with.
