What It Is
Freeze Up! is a fast-paced electronic pass-around game. The object is to be the last player with time remaining in the game. The game is for two to eight players. At the beginning of each game, each player starts with 60 seconds. The electronic unit keeps track of how many players there are and how much time each player has remaining. On each player's turn, the unit will announce a category and a letter. There are 170 categories and millions of letter combinations. For example, "Name a sport, letter T". The timer will tick down as a player tries to name a sport that starts with the letter T. Once the player shouts out his answer, he presses the Freeze button to halt the timer, and passes the unit to the next player. The game continues with players passing the unit around and taking turns answering questions.
If you can't think of an answer, you can press either the New Category button or the New Letter button. But doing so will remove three seconds from your time.
A player can also challenge the answer of the player immediately before him if he thinks that answer was wrong. After the player before you presses Freeze and hands you the unit, press the Challenge button. The timer stops while the rest of the players vote to accept or reject the answer. If the group accepts the answer, the challenger presses the Word Accepted button and loses five seconds from his remaining time. If the group rejects the answer, the challenger presses the Word Rejected button, and the challenged player loses five seconds from his time.
Is It Fun?
This is a fast-paced game that really gets players thinking and challenges their vocabularies. As time ticks down, the pressure is on to quickly think up an answer that meets the category and letter specifications. It sounds simple, but when you're on the spot, it's easy to freeze up.
Who It’s For
Freeze Up! is for ages 8 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Three AA batteries are included for the in-store try-me features. It's recommended that you replace them before you play for best results.
