What It Is

Style Me Up! is a fashion brand founded on the notion of "do it yourself". With the Style Me Up! Sweet Key Charms kit, kids can make their own key charm necklaces. The kit comes with everything kids need, including six key pendants, a plastic working station, tweezers, colorful rhinestones, silver glitter powder, pre-cut double-sided adhesive, six ribbons, eight jump rings, and instructions.

Kids simply choose which key pendant they want to work with and place it in the plastic working station. Then place the double-sided tape on the key. Using the tweezers, pick up the rhinestones one by one and place them wherever you'd like on the key. The working station has two spots where you can store the rhinestones while you're working. Once you're done covering the key with rhinestone, sprinkle some glitter powder on top of the key, using your finger to help spread the glitter. Then pick up the key and shake it over the working station to remove excess glitter. Attach a jump ring to the key and slide a piece of ribbon through the jump ring to create a necklace. You can also decorate the ribbon with the included rhinestone stickers if you want.

Is It Fun?

This is a fun activity for kids who like to make and wear their own jewelry. This kit lets kids express themselves through hands-on creativity, while adding a personal touch to their creations.

Who It’s For

Style Me Up! Sweet Key Charms is for ages 8 and up. It will most appeal to kids who love to do crafts and have the patience and fine motor skills to work with the tweezers and small gems.

What To Be Aware Of

Depending on how kids want to design their keys, the amount of time it takes to complete this activity varies. It took us 20 minutes to make two keys.

The instructions are easy to follow, but we did have some trouble peeling off the double-sided adhesive.
