What It Is
For young aspiring Meridas and Katniss Everdeens, there's the Nerf Rebelle Heartbreaker Bow. This bow-and-arrow set is geared specifically toward girls with its pink and purple design. It doesn't shoot arrows. Like all Nerf products, the Heartbreaker Bow shoots foam darts, and the five darts included with the bow have colorful patterns on them.
To shoot, load a dart in the front and take aim. Pull back on the bow string handle and release to send the dart soaring up to 75 feet. The bow also features an accessory rail that provides for five-dart storage for easy access to ammo during a Nerf battle. Girls can also customize the Heartbreaker Bow with add-ons, such as the Nerf Rebelle App Cradle, which is sold separately.
Is It Fun?
Archery has become more popular among girls thanks to female movie characters such as Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games and Brave's Merida. The Nerf Rebelle Heartbreaker Bow lets girls pretend to be like those movie characters and battle like the boys with a bow designed just for them. While this is a cool bow that is easy to load and launch, we certainly didn't get our darts to go 75 feet. Ours only traveled between 20 and 25 feet, which was kind of disappointing.
Who It’s For
The Heartbreaker Bow is for ages 8 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Kids might want to wear long sleeves or a forearm shield (like real archers wear) because the bow string sometimes hits your arm after being released and it stings a little.
Do not aim the darts at people's eyes or faces.
Nerf Rebelle Vision Gear is available and sold separately as a fun accessory to the Nerf Rebelle line and as a way to protect kids' eyes.
