Based on the new Disney/Pixar animated movie Planes comes the story in the form of a 24-page book. It is published by Golden Books, an imprint of Random House Children's Books and written by Klay Hall, illustrated by Jason Hand, and designed by Tony Fejeran. The book like the film tells the story of Dusty Crophopper, a little crop-dusting plane who dreamed of racing in the Wings Around the Globe Rally. With the help of his best friend Chug, Dusty aces the tryouts and qualifies for the race and earns the trust and guidance of a real race coach—Skipper, a former combat flying coach, who at first refused to help Dusty. But Dusty has a secret: he's afraid of heights. The rest of the story follows Dusty on his journey to the finish line against the competition which includes Bulldog the British Racer, the famous Ripslinger, and El Chupacabra, the flashy Mexican racer.
In a Cars-like fashion, the book is filled with great messages about conquering your fears, the power of teamwork and friendship, and being honest with yourself and others. With beautifully illustrated drawings that fill the book, we think it is a good fit for parents searching for a new bedtime story for their child. Children can also use the book to practice reading the entire story outloud or just the bolded words and names featured on each page.
Planes is written for ages 2–5 and will specifically appeal to fans of the new Planes movie.
The book is based on the new CG-animated Disney/Pixar movie Planes.
