What It Is

With Imagine I Can Crafty Eraser Creations, kids can mold colorful clay into erasers. The kit comes with 12 eraser clay colors, two plastic clay tools, and a plastic shape mold tray. Pick your clay color and knead it in the palm of your hand until the clay becomes a soft, solid piece. Shape it with your hands or press it into one of the shape molds. You can use the plastic tools to add extra design details. And kids can also use multiple clay colors for one eraser. When finished creating your clay shape, you can either use the microwave or stovetop to turn it in to an eraser.

For the microwave, you place the clay shape in a microwave-safe container and fill the container with enough water to cover the clay by a few inches. Then, depending on your microwave's wattage, microwave the clay shape from anywhere between seven to 10 minutes. Remove the container from the microwave and let it cool before removing the eraser.

For the stovetop, you fill a pot with enough water to cover the clay by a few inches. Bring the water to a boil and then place the clay shape into the water. Let it boil for 10 minutes. Then, remove the pot from heat and let it cool before removing the eraser.

Is It Fun?

This kit lets kids get creative and make their own erasers in cool shapes and colors. The erasers work fairly well, although some kids may choose to keep and collect their shaped erasers instead of using them.

Who It’s For

Crafty Eraser Creations is for ages 8 and up. Because this craft involves the use of a microwave or stove, adult participation is required.

What To Be Aware Of

The instructions for this are easy to follow. However, there is one step that isn't explicitly stated. And though it is pretty intuitive, we thought we'd mention it in case some kids got confused. If you use the mold tray to shape your clay, you must remove the clay from the mold before boiling it on the stovetop or in the microwave. The plastic mold tray is not a microwave- or stovetop-safe container.
