What It Is
Test your memory while exploring America's national parks with Memory Challenge: National Parks. Each of the 100 picture cards features a photograph of 50 national parks and the animals that live there, including the Channel Islands, the Grand Canyon, Gettysburg, Mount Rushmore, and more. In the game, you place all the picture cards facedown. Players take turns flipping over two cards to find a match, just like in regular Memory Challenge.
However, in this version, each player chooses a National Park Specialist Card and assumes that profession throughout the game. There are five specialist cards: zoologist, humanitarian, geologist, historian, and marine biologist. These cards are color coded, and their colors match those on the picture cards. So, if you make a match and those picture cards are the same color as your specialty, you score two points for the match. All other matches score one point.
Also thrown into the mix are 10 Rules & Regulations Cards. If you turn over one of these cards, you must do what the card says. These cards could help you or hurt you. For instance, you might get to reveal two extra cards. Or you might forget to extinguish your camp fire and lose your next turn.
Once all the matches have been made, the player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
The instruction booklet offers different ways to play the game as well as information on all the national parks and animals featured in the game. Memory Challenge: National Parks is for one or more players.
Is It Fun?
We like how the National Park Specialist Cards and Rules & Regulations Cards add more excitement to the traditional memory gameplay. This is a fun way to improve kids' concentration and memory skills while also introducing them to our nation's parks and historic sites.
