Tamagotchi L.i.f.e., which stands for Love Is Fun Everywhere, is a new lifestyle brand being built around the first-ever app based on Bandai’s Tamagotchi. The app recreates the original Tamagotchi toy from the 1990’s and anyone who remembers those digital pets will instantly recognize the Tamagotchi Life app.
You can play with your Tamagotchi in two modes. There’s the Toy Mode, which looks just like the 1990’s toys with the plastic eggshell case and screen. And there’s the App mode which expands the pet area to fill your mobile device’s screen.
Just like the original toy, the app is all about raising and caring for a digital pet. You care for your Tamagotchi pet by feeding it, playing games with it, cleaning up after it and turning the lights on and off when it wants to sleep. All interactions with the Tamagotchi pets are completed using the on-screen icons but it is up to the Tamagotchi’s owner to figure out what it needs.
You can check in to see how your pet is doing by selecting the meter icon. If you take good care of a Tamagotchi pet and keep it healthy, the pet will grow and change colors. What makes Tamagotchi so much fun for kids is keeping their pet alive and being rewarded by its growing and changing color and shape. This gives kids (and some grownups) a real sense of accomplishment.
While 1990’s kids will get a kick out of this nostalgic toy, it’s really going to be a hit with today’s kids who are seeing Tamagotchi for the first time in this app.
The Tamagotchi app is great for girls and boys, however, many of the lifestyle items appear designed with girls in mind.
Caring for a Tamagotchi is easy but they require a lot of attention. Ignoring a Tamagotchi for too long will cause it to become unhappy or sick and ultimately could lead to death. If your Tamagotchi dies, you can start a new one.
The Tamagotchi Life app is available now for Android devices and will be arriving soon for iOS devices.
It would be helpful if the app included an icon chart to explain exactly what each of the on-screen icons and the Tamagotchi’s symbols represented.
The app is designed to be a centerpiece for all kinds of lifestyle products designed for the fans of Tamagotchi.
