What It Is
Sight words are words whose spellings are not straight-forward, such as "our" or "the", yet they are the most frequently used words in the English language. They are important for kids who are learning to read. Kids can practice sight words with Zingo! Sight Words. Each player receives one double-sided game card. The green side is less competitive and the red side is more competitive. The object is to be the first player to cover all nine spaces on your Zingo! card with matching word tiles.
Load the 72 tiles into the Zinger, slide the Zinger forward and back, and two word tiles will be revealed. When a player sees a word tile that matches a word on his or her card, the player calls out the word, takes the tile, and covers the printed image on the card. Any unclaimed tiles go back into the Zinger. Play continues until one player covers all nine spaces on his or her card.
Zingo! Sight Words comes with 72 sight word tiles, six double-sided cards, and a Zinger. It is for two to six players.
Is It Fun?
Zingo! Sight Words is a fun way to introduce children to and help them practice those all-important sight words. Sliding the Zinger back and forth to reveal words is pretty fun, and we think kids will really like that element of the gameplay.
Who It’s For
Zingo! Sight Words is for pre-k to first grade. There is no specific age-grading, but we think it's best for ages 4 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
The instructions also include game variations so that you can play Zingo! Sight Words in different ways.
Sight words are an important learning concept that complements phonics-based reading learning, so this is a good game to add to your collection for pre- and early readers in your home. Plus, the fast-pace helps kids develop their sight reading skills.
