- BabbaBox from BabbaCo
- We recommend this product for ages 3 and up
What It Is
With BabbaCo's BabbaBox, kids receive new creative and hands-on activities every month. Parents sign up for a monthly subscription ($19.99/month) at babbaco.com, and each month a box filled with crafts and books is delivered right to your doorstep. The BabbaBox content includes two to three hands-on projects with supplies, a theme-based product that engages kids with the world and nature, a book, and a free app to download.
The BabbaBox themes change every month. A past BabbaBox was themed "Sun, Moon & Stars" and included two hands-on activities: a papier-mâché "moon" nightlight and a make-your-own constellation frame. The book Twinkle, Star of the Week by Joan Holub was also included. Kids got to look at the moon through their own pair of binoculars and practice cutting with kid-safe scissors. And the free iPhone/iPad app was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star PreSchool Storybook Piano. Other past themes have included "Gratitude," "Detective," and "Polar Explorers."
Is It Fun?
BabbaBox is a unique way to spark kids' creativity every month. The boxes come with all the materials and inspiration kids need. Kids will love the surprise of opening the box and seeing what's inside, then getting down to work building, decorating, exploring, and imagining.
Who It’s For
BabbaBox is for ages 3—6. Some BabbaBox activities may require adult supervision and/or assistance.
This is ideally suited for parents who want to provide new experiences for kids but who don't have time to create them.
What To Be Aware Of
There are three different types of membership. An annual membership is $19.99/month. A monthly membership is $29.99/month. A single BabbaBox costs $39.99. Shipping is free within the 48 contiguous United States.
If you have multiple children, you can order a Bonus Pack to go along with the main BabbaBox. The Bonus Pack contains an extra copy of each hands-on activity and costs $9.99.
These are expensive for what you get. What you're paying for is the convenience and that someone has assembled the box for you.
