What It Is
Fans of the popular Talking Friends app can now play with the characters from the app off-screen. Much like in the app, the 12-inch Talking Tom repeats everything you say in his own voice. Press Tom's foot and he'll say "No, no, no!" Wait for the red light to glow from within Tom's chest. When you see it, start talking and the red light will blink. Stop talking and Tom will repeat what you said. Tom's mouth also moves as he talks. You can talk to Tom and hear the toy repeat what you've said over and over and over again. A Talking Ben is also available and sold separately.
Is It Fun?
While the Talking Friends app is a little more interactive, this toy is great for younger kids who want to engage with the characters off-screen. Kids will think it's fun (and silly) to hear Tom repeat everything they say. And silliness is what it's all about.
Who It’s For
Talking Friends Talking Tom is for ages 3 and up.
Kids and families who know the app will probably get the biggest kick out of this, but it's a cute toy for anyone.
What To Be Aware Of
Three AA batteries are included, but these power the in-store try-me features. It's recommended that you replace them before you play for best results.
The talk-back feature works well, but it works best if you speak to Talking Tom at close range. Even holding the toy at arm's length wasn't close enough for Tom to register our voice, unless we yelled.
The electronic mechanism within the toy makes it kind of hard, so if you're younger kids are looking for a more cuddly option to snuggle up with, Cuddle Barn also produces softer nine-inch characters that say different phrases from the app when you squeeze their bellies.
Talking Tom will go into sleep mode after five minutes of inactivity. Press Tom's foot to wake him up.
