What It Is
The popular online social game CityVille, from gamemaker Zynga, comes to life in board game format from Hasbro. In CityVille Monopoly, players compete to become the first mayor to build four skyscrapers to win. The game plays like Monopoly: You take turns moving around the game board, buying properties, paying rent, buying buildings for your properties, and collecting $200 each time you pass Go.
But there are some differences. Of course, the game board, property names, and the playing pieces are different to reflect the online CityVille game. And instead of placing buildings right on the property spaces, you build your buildings and skyscrapers in the map area in the center of the game board. Use the stackable buildings to build houses, community buildings, and businesses. Once you have a stack of three buildings, you can pay to add a skyscraper top and turn it into a four-story skyscraper.
There are also Mystery Gifts cards. If you land on a Mystery Gifts space, take the top Mystery Gifts card from the stack. Each card has two pictures of decorations on them, and you can choose which one you'd like to add to a property that you own. This will increase your property's value. If you land on the Visitor Center space, draw top card from the Visitor Center card deck and follow the instructions, which could be "Go directly to jail," "Get out of jail free," or "Pay a $15 fine."
The game comes with a gameboard, four movers, 66 buildings, 16 skyscraper tops, city money, zoning permit cards, Mystery Gift cards, Visitor Center cards, and two dice. CityVille Monopoly is for two to four players.
Is It Fun?
