What It Is
If you've ever wanted to dress up your Halloween pumpkin, now you can with Mr. Potato Head Pumpkin Push-Ins. Just push Mr. Potato Head-like parts into your pumpkin to create a Mr. Potato Head Pumpkin character. There are 14 costumes available, including cowboy, pirate, two witches, ghost, superhero, devil, mini witch, mini monster, mini devil, bright princess, monster, skeleton, and vampire. Each is sold separately. The mini kits are designed for five- to seven-inch pumpkins. The regular kits are designed for larger pumpkins.
Is It Fun?
The Mr. Potato Head Pumpkin Push-Ins are really cute. The idea is to allow little ones to be able to decorate a pumpkin and get great looking results without the mess of carving. This seems ideally designed for parents who might not want their little ones to be handling cutting tools.
Who It’s For
Mr. Potato Head Pumpkin Push-Ins are for ages 2 and up. Because it is so hard to push in the body parts, this is definitely not something a 2-year-old could do. Young children will need mom and dad to put the pieces on the pumpkin, especially if carving holes is involved.
What To Be Aware Of
As noted, even though it seems that no carving is involved, we found it very difficult to simply push in the body parts. We had to carve tiny holes or at least stab the pumpkin with a sharp tool where we wanted the body parts to go before we were able to get the body parts pushed into the pumpkin.
With that in mind, this is not an item that kids can do by themselves, and it may be frustrating for little kids who want to feel like they're doing it themselves.
This may seem like a toy item, but it's really more for decoration. If you want your child to be able to play with their Mr. Potato Head Pumpkin Push-Ins character by mixing and matching where the body parts go, you'll need to choose a small and lightweight pumpkin so that your preschooler will be able to lift the pumpkin and move it around.
