What It Is
Kids can now make Dippin' Dots at home with the Dippin' Dots Frozen Dot Maker. Create a variety of Dippin' Dots flavors (which will look like but not taste like what you find at Dippin' Dots stands) using your favorite drink. Dippin' Dots Frozen Dot Mix, which is sold separately creates something more like the original. Just mix the contents in the Frozen Dot Maker dispenser and pour the liquid mix into a Dippin' Dots freezer tray. Place the tray into the freezer for approximately two to three hours to finish off the treats. Once done, remove the tray from the freezer and run it under warm water for five to 10 seconds. Separate the top part of the tray from the bottom, and bend the tray back and forth over a bowl to release the dots.
You can make fun frozen dot designs using the double-sided pattern templates and the Dippin' Dots Pop Pens. Separate one of the freezer trays and place one of the templates under the bottom portion of the tray. Fill a Pop Pen with the flavor of your choice. Press down on the top of the pen to release the flavor into the holes on the tray using the template as your guide. Then secure the top part of the tray and place it in the freezer.
The kit includes one Frozen Dot Maker with three dispensers, six Magic Dot Freezer Trays, four bowls, four spoons, two Pop Pens, and two double-sided pop pattern templates.
Is It Fun?
Dippin' Dots are popular with kids at theme parks and other venues. Kids who like them will enjoy being able to make their own. It's often appealing to kids to make at-home versions of their favorite purchased treats.
Who It’s For
The Dippin' Dots Frozen Dot Maker is for ages 6 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
While these look a lot like the Dippin' Dots sold at the stands, they do not taste like them. If you want to make Dippin' Dots with the familiar Dippin' Dots ice cream flavors, then you're definitely going to want to buy one of the Frozen Dot Mixes. We didn't think it was that difficult to make the frozen dots. The written and illustrated instructions were easy to follow. While not exactly like the Dippin' Dots ice cream, the chocolate flavored frozen dots we made actually tasted pretty good.
There are different Dippin' Dots Frozen Dot Mix packs available. The Frozen Dot Mix Value-Pack includes the flavors vanilla, cotton candy, strawberry, banana split, cookies 'n cream, and chocolate. It retails for $16.99.
You can also purchase smaller refill packs, Cotton Candy/Cookies 'n Cream/Banana Split or Chocolate/Vanilla/Strawberry, for $6.99 each.
Parents should check the labels for any food-related concerns. The Frozen Dot Mix is gluten-free, wheat-free, nut-free, peanut-free, milk-free, and egg-free. However, all mixes are packaged on equipment that processes dairy, wheat, soy, and tree nuts.
