What It Is
The Brilliant Creations Color Touch Tablet comes with 80 learning activities and games in science, math, logic, language, creativity, and more. When the unit is turned on, you will see the category menu. To choose a category, kids can touch the arrows on the screen with a finger, then touch the category icon or press enter. Kids can also use the tablet's motion sensor and tilt the device left or right, then touch the category icon or press enter. The third way to select a category is to simply press the category key on the keyboard.
There are five categories. Creativity Canyon has 12 activities that let kids draw, make music, and more. Language Island's 25 activities are all about exploring letters and words. The 17 activities in Math Kingdom help kids practice counting, addition, telling time, and subtraction. There are eight activities in Science World that ask kids to identify nature sounds and animals. Logic Land has 18 activities that ask kids to find the penguin that is different, find the penguin that is the same, help the penguin move on the screen to get to the key, roll a snowball through a maze.
Most activities have three levels: beginner, explorer, and expert. Kids can select what level they want by pressing the Challenge Level key on the keyboard. In most activities, after entering three continuous rounds of correct answers and getting 80–100 points each round, the activity will automatically level up to the next level of difficulty.
When kids or parents press the Progress Report key, they can review the child's progress in the activities he or she has completed.
The Brilliant Creations Color Touch Tablet features a 3.5-inch color touch screen, a QWERTY keyboard, and volume/contrast control.
Is It Fun?
The Brilliant Creations Color Touch Tablet has the look of a tablet device but with a kid-friendly design and content. There are lots of activities for kids to play, and the different levels for each activity keep the content challenging and engaging. The motion sensor is cool, especially when playing the video game-type activities. But at times it can be a bit too sensitive, and you end up choosing something you didn't mean to choose.
Who It’s For
The Brilliant Creations Color Touch Tablet is for ages 4–7.
What To Be Aware Of
Four AA batteries are included, but these are for the in-store try-me features. VTech recommends replacing them before you play for best results.
The screensaver animation will automatically display after 60 seconds of no input in most activities. It is recommended that you remove the batteries if you don't plan on using the Color Touch Tablet for an extended period of time.
For the best performance of the motion sensor, hold the Color Touch Tablet at a 30-degree angle.
