What It Is

The Great Quarry Climb is part of the Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play Portable Railway system. It is inspired by the new Thomas DVD, Blue Mountain Mystery. The basic track is not motorized, so kids will push the Thomas engine along the track using their hand or finger. To help Thomas get up the steep incline, take Owen's magnetic cable, attach it to the connector on the front of Thomas, push the lever, and Owen will bring Thomas up the hill. When Thomas gets to the top, give him a push to send him down the track. As Thomas goes downhill, he will activate the drop salt, which slices the rock and drops it into the cargo car. Drive Thomas to the turntable, back him up and connect him to the cargo car so that Thomas can bring the cargo car with him as he rides the rails. And because this is part of the Take-n-Play line, the set folds up so kids can take it with them. Other Thomas & Friends track sets can be attached to this set.

Is It Fun?

This railway set includes cool features to engage kids in active, imaginative, and open-ended play with Thomas the Tank Engine. And because kids can attach other Thomas & Friends track sets to The Great Quarry Climb, kids can expand their Thomas world.

Who It’s For

The Great Quarry Climb is for Thomas fans ages 3 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

It took us 15-20 minutes to assemble.

Take your time folding up the playset and pay attention to how the two tower pieces fit together. We found the instructions for this a little hard to follow, and while the end result does hold together nicely, the process may be confusing the first couple of times you do it. Adult assistance is recommended for this stage.
