What It Is

With the Imaginext Castle Ogre, kids enter a world of medieval adventure and get to control a monstrous ogre. Squeeze the handle on the ogre's back to raise its arms. When kids move the ogre around, they can swing the ogre's arms and smash anything standing in the way. The ogre also makes different sounds. The left hand is spring-loaded, so kids can open the ogre's hand and place the included club or an action figure in the hand. When kids press on the ogre's tongue, they will hear a chomping sound. There is also a figure imprint on the bottom of the ogre's foot, so when the ogre steps on an Imaginext figure, the figure fits inside the imprint, making it look like the figure got "smashed" into the bottom of the ogre's foot. The Castle Ogre comes with what Mattel calls Action Tech technology. This means that a squeeze of the ogre's handle sends a signal to the Imaginext Eagle Talon Castle (sold separately) to warn the knights that the ogre is approaching.

Is It Fun?

Preschoolers will have a great time with the Imaginext Castle Ogre, pretending to smash and bash the castle or whatever gets in the ogre's way. Like all items in this line, the fun is in the imagining, and the level of open-ended, narrative-based play that it will inspire. We really like the level of preschool comedy that's built right in, which enhances the toy and the play experience. The sound effects and movement help bring the ogre to life and inspire lots of imaginative play.

Who It’s For

The Imaginext Castle Ogre is for ages 3–8.

What To Be Aware Of

Three AAA batteries are included, but these are for in-store try-me purposes. Fisher-Price recommends replacing them before you play for best results.
