Halflings – Memory Match Challenge is a fast-paced memory-style game based on the young adult book series Halflings. For those unfamiliar with the books, Halflings is a trilogy of paranormal romance books written by Heather Burch. In the series, Nikki Youngblood discovers she's the central target of supernatural attacks and turns to three half-angel boys (Raven, Mace, and Vine) for protection. A growing attraction between Nikki and two of her protectors presents a new danger. While Nikki risks a broken heart, Mace and Raven could lose everything, including their souls. As the mysteries behind the boys' powers and Nikki's role in a scientist's dark plan unfold, Nikki is faced with choices that will affect the future of an entire race of heavenly beings, and could disrupt the precarious equilibrium of the earthly world.
Halflings – Memory Match Challenge gives readers the opportunity to enjoy the book's exciting universe beyond the printed page. In the app, players must remember where symbols are hidden and unveil them in pairs. Tap on tiles to uncover symbols two at a time. The levels of play become more difficult as players advance. With each level, more symbols appear and you have less time to find the required number of matches. You can even add a row of tiles if you want to make a level harder. If you lose a level, you can replay that level without starting over the entire game. There are 30 levels.
The game comes with a free download of the illustrated prequel e-book The Making of a Halfling. The app also gives fans the opportunity to connect with Heather Burch on The Halflings Network at halflings.ning.com and receive updates about upcoming books in the series.
The app was designed as a way to further engage fans of the book series, and those are the kids who are going to be interested in this app. Kids who haven't read the book series might not understand all the content in the app. We assume that all the symbols (including a shield, bow and arrow, and paw print) have something to do with the series' storyline. Fans of the book series will probably enjoy the free prequel e-book more than they will enjoy playing the matching game.
The app is age-graded 4 and up. The books, however, are for ages 15 and up. The app will most likely appeal to fans of the books.
The app is available on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch as well as on Android devices.
