What It Is
With Funtrix Cat's Cradle, kids can learn 28 different tricks to perform with a colorful string, including Jacob's Ladder, The Polar Bear, and Tea Cup. The tricks are divided into three categories: beginner, medium, and advanced. The included instructional DVD shows kids basic finger positions for starting tricks and then shows kids how to do the different tricks.
Is It Fun?
Parents and grandparents might remember playing Cat's Cradle as children, and they will enjoy being able to share the classic fun with their own kids and grandkids. There is a slight learning curve for some of these tricks, but figuring out how to do the tricks is part of the play. Once kids get the hang of it, they'll like making different shapes out of one piece of string, and can even come up with their own tricks.
Who It’s For
The Funtrix Cat's Cradle is for ages 6 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
While the instructional DVD is helpful, there are no words. First you watch a video of how to do a trick, and then you watch it again in slow-motion. Some kids may find the lack of step-by-step written instructions, and having to constantly pause the DVD and get up close to the TV or computer screen to better see the finger positions, which may be frustrating.
Like any skill, it takes a little time to get the hang of it, and practice is definitely required and recommended.
