How Insects See! is part of Safari Ltd.'s Safariology line of educational toys designed to engage young children in learning about the past and present inhabitants of Earth. With How Insects See!, kids get a glimpse into the bug world by looking through special lenses similar to the lenses in the eyes of insects. How Insects See! comes with three interchangeable lenses (ommatidium, ocelli, and elongated) that demonstrate the compound vision insects use to see. Simply place one of the lenses into the viewing tube and insert the retainer ring to hold the lens in place. Then look through the viewing tube to see how bugs see. Educational information about insects and how they view the world is provided on the packaging.
Young children are fascinated by bugs, and the How Insects See! kit indulges kids' curiosity about the little creatures all around them. Kids will enjoy the kaleidoscope-like view they get when they look through the different lenses and pretending to be insects. It's best if parents play along in order to help communicate the educational content on the packaging and what each lens does for insects.
How Insects See! is for ages 4 and up.
All Safariology products are hand-painted and phthalate-free.
Younger children may need help from parents when inserting the retainer ring. You'll need to press down hard on it in order for it to stay in place and, therefore, keep the lens from falling out.
