What It Is
Potty training is an important milestone in a child's life, and it can sometimes be a little stressful for kids. Often the experience can be made easier or more manageable when some level of play accompanies the process. And once little girls pass this milestone, they can also play out the training process with them in the role of mom. That's the idea behind the Little Mommy Princess and the Potty. Sit the doll on the special potty to hear sounds and phrases as the doll "goes" potty. Pressing down on the toilet seat causes the sounds and phrases to play. It also causes the "water" (a blue, water-like disc) in the toilet to flip over and show pretend pee and poop. Flush the toilet to hear realistic flushing sounds and more phrases, such as "Better wash my hands. Where's the soap?" Flushing the toilet also causes the "water" to reappear. There is also a spinning roll of toilet paper attached to the toilet. Accessories include a sparkly sippy cup and a sparkly hand sanitizer container, though it does not include any soap or hand sanitizer. Princess and the Potty is available in a Caucasian or African-American version.
Is It Fun?
Little girls want to be just like mom and mimic the activities they've seen their own moms doing. The Princess and the Potty doll allows girls to engage in nurturing "mommy" play while roleplaying the milestone of potty training. The toilet "flushing", the pretend poop and pee, and the realistic sound effects add to the imaginative play.
Girls at this age might also be going through the potty training process, and the Princess and the Potty baby doll helps reinforce toilet etiquette and makes the potty experience fun instead of scary.
Who It’s For
Little Mommy Princess and the Potty is for ages 2 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
The Princess and the Potty doll does not drink or wet. All the sounds and phrases come from the potty.
Three button cell batteries are included. These are for try-me purposes, and Fisher-Price recommends replacing them before you play for best results. You'll need a Phillips head screwdriver to open the battery door beneath the potty.
Before playing with the toy, make sure to remove and discard the plastic Try Me tab beneath the potty. Otherwise you won't get all the sound effects.
