What It Is

What It Is

The premise of the game Doggie Doo is simple and a little gross: Feed and walk the dog. When the dog poops, clean up the mess. The centerpiece of the game is a doggie figure that sits in the center of the game play area. The game comes with a container of "dog food", which is really just a bright yellow, squishy compound. Fill the dog bowl with pieces of the "food" and then place the "food" in the dog's mouth. Use the bone to push the "food" far enough into the dog's mouth. (If the food isn't in the dog's mouth far enough, you won't be able to get the dog to poop.) On each turn, a player rolls the die to see how many times he or she squeezes the handle at the end of the leash. With each squeeze of the leash, the dog makes a gassy sound that gets louder and louder until the "doo" (the "food" compound that has moved its way through the dog) comes out the other end. If the "doo" comes out on your turn, you get to collect it on your shovel and feed the dog again. The first player to collect three pieces of doggie doo wins the game.

Doggie Doo comes with a dog with leash and the leash pump handle, a bone, a die, four shovels, one container of "dog food", one treat mold in the shape of a dog bowl, and rules. The game is for two to four players.

Why It’s Fun

Yes, this game is kind of gross, but kids at the target age are fascinated by bodily functions. (After all, these are the kids who think that the book Walter the Farting Dog is the height of comedy.) They love giggling about the grossness and playing with the concept of doggie doo, all the while knowing that it's clean and safe. As a result they feel free to revel in the slightly disgusting silliness of it. Doggie Doo is easy to play, and kids will get a kick out of making the dog "poop" and then playing with the "poop".

Who It’s For

Doggie Doo is for ages 4 and up.

What to Be Aware of

Make sure to store the "dog food" inside its container with the lid tightly closed or it will dry out.
