What It Is

On June 17, 2011, a new superhero hits movie screens. Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, a cocky test pilot who becomes part of an intergalactic brotherhood called the Green Lantern Corps, charged with keeping peace and justice in the universe. When a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the universe, the fate of the Corps and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern. Mattel is producing a line of toys for both kids and adults based on the new movie.

Green Lantern Battle Shifters instantly transform, or shift, from one object to another. Each Battle Shifter comes with a four-inch action figure of Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Tomar-Re, or Kilowog. Each figure comes with a fold-up Power Slinger accessory. With a light touch, the Power Slinger instantly pops out, revealing a weapon or creature to fight foes. For example, Hal Jordan's saw blade instantly transforms into a cannon turret that really fires, just like in the movie. The transformation of the Power Slingers is really the basis of the play as kids imagine power and conflict scenarios, which they act out with the toy.

Why It’s Fun

Green Lantern Battle Shifters add a new element to traditional action figures play. It's easy for kids to transform the Power Slingers and fun to see one item become a completely new item. The transforming feature offers kids an exciting way to recreate Green Lantern movie scenes or create their own heroic adventures.

Who It’s For

Green Lantern Battle Shifters are for ages 4 and up. Boys who are into superheroes, especially the Green Lantern, will want to have this toy.

Because of the innovative transforming feature, this is likely to be a hit with collectors as well.

What to Be Aware of

Younger kids may need parental help when refolding the Power Slinger accessory.
