Weekend Box Office: Brave Slays Lincoln & Friend

Three new movies opened over the weekend — Brave, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World — and Brave easily claimed the top spot. The latest Pixar/Disney film performed solidly with an estimated $66.7 million in it’s opening weekend and is Pixar’s 13th #1 movie in a row. The other two new movies didn’t even come close to Brave’s opening with Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter earning $16.5 million and Seeking A Friend finding just $3.8 million and barely making it into the Top 10 list.

Madagascar 3 had another strong week with $20.2 million earned and the #2 spot on the top 10 list. Prometheus was off roughly 50% from it’s previous week, taking in an estimated $10 million and sliding down the list to #4.

It looks like The Avengers should cross the $600 million milestone this week. The movie earned another $7.04 million and it’s total domestic take is now $598,300,000.
