Weekend Box Office: A Cornicopia of Cash for Hunger Games

The Hunger Games slaughtered the other tributes competition for a second weekend in a row earning more than the two new movies premiering this weekend combined. It isn’t a big surprise that The Hunger Games took the top of the list again but what is a little surprising is that is did so much better than the two new movies that premiered this weekend – Wrath Of The Titans (#2, $34,200,000) and Mirror Mirror (#3, $19,000,000).

Wrath of the Titans‘  $34.2 million is just over half as much as Clash of the Titans made on its opening weekend two years ago. Mirror Mirror, the first of two Snow White movies coming out this year, failed to meet industry expectations despite starring some big name actors, including Julia Roberts.

Here is what the Top 10 looks like for the weekend of March 30 – April 1, 2012:

1. The Hunger Games ($61,100,000)
2. Wrath of the Titans ($34,200,000)
