Visit Lincoln Center with Sesame Street

Sesame Street has been inviting television viewers to learn about “the people in your neighborhood; the people that you meet each day” for more than 40 years. During the month of April, viewers of Sesame Street’s YouTube channel are invited to learn about the people around Sesame Street’s neighborhood, which includes New York City’s famed Lincoln Center.

The first segment in the Lincoln Center series, now available on YouTube, has Murray Monster and Ovejita visiting the New York City Ballet. Murray and Ovejita join four New York City Ballet dancers in the studio to learn about ballerinas and try out their own dance moves.

In the second segment, available today on YouTubeOperaSinger and on TV airing April 11, viewers will meet New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert to find out just what a conductor really does.

The final segment will be posted to YouTube on April 23 and on then air on TV on April 25. This segment features Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard (shown here in the photo). She will show how opera singers tell stories through vocal music and give a demonstration of a funny vocal exercise.
