Nintendo to Drop Price of Wii U

So far, all of the pre-holiday talk about game systems has focused on the new consoles from Xbox and PlayStation. Nintendo wants to remind us all that the Wii U is heading into it’s second year and what better way to do that than to drop the price by $50.

Starting on September 20, the Wii U Deluxe Set will get a new suggested retail price of $299.99, down from $349.99 at last year’s launch. On the same day, Nintendo will release a limited-edition Wii U bundle featuring The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. The bundle includes a black Deluxe Wii U console; a GamePad controller with Zelda-inspired gold accents; a download code for the digital version of Hyrule Historia, a book that details the chronology, history and artwork of The Legend of Zelda series; and a code that can be used to download The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD from the Nintendo eShop immediately at no additional cost. That bundle will also sell for $299.99.

I haven’t seen the Zelda-inspired GamePad in person but I have played The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and while it is essentially the same game, the HD edition looks beautiful.
