Geeh The Band: FierceOne of the trickiest parts of planning a kid’s birthday party, after finally deciding on a theme, is nailing down how you are going to entertain 20 sugar-filled kids. From music to games to crafts to bounce-houses, the options are endless and overwhelming.

Luckily, we have three fun and easy entertainment ideas for your child’s next birthday party.

  • DIY Projects: Crafts will keep guests entertained for hours. From tie-dye T-shirts to decorating your own cupcake to dressing up as a rockstar, kids can use their imaginations and get creative with their friends. Incorporate the colors of your theme into the projects. Most of the tools needed can be purchased in bulk, allowing you to save money for other aspects of the party, such as the menu.

  • Karaoke: Have an “American Idol-esque” karaoke show where guests can belt out their favorite tunes. Make sure an adult supervises this activity so kids are free to have fun without too much harsh criticism from other kids. Geeh, The Band’s new album, Fierce, has more than 10 original age-appropriate songs the whole party (even parents!) will love. Karaoke machines can be rented through a local company for a low fee and includes all the accessories. The kids will have such a blast singing and dancing that they won’t even realize you’re ready to serve the cake.

  • Games: Pin the Tail on the Donkey is an old favorite that kids today still enjoy. But you can put a modern twist on it. Set up different stations around your backyard or basement so guests can go around to play various games and win prizes for their goody bags. Include a beanbag or ring toss game, egg-and-spoon relay, and a popcorn machine. There is no waiting on lines and everyone will win something.

Planning the entertainment can be easier than you think. Just make sure to keep music and games age appropriate. Don’t discount the “old-fashioned” games. Enlist the help of family and friends to keep the party safe and flowing. Then, all you have to do is sit back and watch kids have the time of their lives!

Alfonso Soto is a dad and founder of Geeh, The Band, which is a seven-member virtual band that performs fun, educational songs for kids ages 7–13. Their latest album, Fierce, is now available. For more information, visit
